Fungified

…I just finished watching a really interesting documentary tonight called Know your Mushrooms.  It went into depth about the uses of mushrooms from culinary to poisonous to psychedelic to medicinal.  Some of the people were a little too into them, as in following the rain from coast to coast to different countries hunting the precious fungus.

I am not the HUGEST mushroom fan in the world, I cannot eat them raw only cooked…the texture when they are raw doesn’t quite agree with me…kinda icky feeling in my mouth.  Nonetheless, I am all of a sudden quite intrigued by the fungus.  I love going for walks in the woods and seeing them at random…can’t wait for the spring.  It boggles my mind how many varieties there are. Are you any of you guys fans of the fungi?

I work at a health food store and I sell cordyceps supplements quite a bit.

A toad on a toadstool.

We love mushies grilled on the BBQ during the warmer months. Mushrooms are a terrific source of iron, apparently the vegetarian's "meat".

I love shrooms! I loved them as a small child - I went round a restaurant once asking everyone for their mushrooms...then suddenly over night I turned against them violently until my late teens when my mum popped them in a lasagna and I slowly fell back in love with them...I still remember that lasagna... I like identifying them if I can...I'd love to be an expert...how sad does that sound?! My dream...to be a mushroom expert...oh dear! xxx PS Cute cat inside mushroom - LOVE IT!

mushrooms! yum! i prefer them cooked or better yet, sauteed! yum. i like how they taste EARTHY, even kind of DIRTY. ahahah. love them! but i haven't studied up on them or picked my own. i hear you really need to know a LOT about mushrooms before you take those steps. not bloody likely for me -- i just get them at the grocery store.

I'm all about the 'shroom. All about it. I can eat 'em raw in a salad, but cooked = deliciousness :). I eat quite a lot of them, because I'm a vegetarian and they are a great source of iron. And they are also very aesthetically pleasing little things, as these photos here attest!
Hmmm, methinks I'd like to do a little research now!
