Playing Musical Catch-up

...Lately I'm being happily and stress-fully overwhelmed with all the Top Bands/Albums/Tracks of the year lists that keep cropping up everywhere.

My favorite sites for these lists include The Dumbing of America & Large Hearted Boy. I am a MASSIVE music fan, but find it awfully hard to keep up, there is only so much time in a day and soo much great music out there.

I love these lists, they do a lot of the grunt work, but there is something so satisfying about discovering bands on your own, at random, but I so often find a band I ADORE and they have long been broken up...I'm behind the times, a lot of the time. What it comes down to is Music is for the ears, heart and soul to enjoy and I don't necessarily have to be entirely up to date, I'm happy at my own pace. All I know is that I cannot listen to most radio stations as they play the same shite over and over, drilling it in your head, marketing bimbos and unrealistic plastic life, that music doesn't speak to me in any way whatsoever, personally I find it soul-sucking and brainless. I don't like being forced to listen to something, especially that crap. I like to make the choice myself, I like my choices better.

...These are a few songs I am totally addicted to. I adore catchy female fronted bands.

...This LadyFuzz, They are or should I say Were a Postrock trio from London, England disbanded in 2007...just wait for the chorus, so good, especially if you're into "conspiracy theory" like I am..hehe. I LOVE their album Kerfuffle.

...Blood Red Shoes are one of my fav bands and have been since I laid my ears on them. So, so cool. They are a two piece from England and their album Box of Secrets from last year is just awesome and so very addictive.

...This electronic band from France is beyond cool...especially this song "Batcaves. I'm hooked, like repeat style. I freaking love her accent and I melt when she says vampyres. Okay, so this one on the list is actually from 2009. The album is Blacklist. Its electronic dancy music, that is super creative and bad-ass. I love it. Check out the video Dead Lazers, if you like what you hear, reminds me of "The Warriors".

...I was going to stop, but I just Have to include Ladyhawke. She's from New Zealand. I love her and this song is amazing...plus her Self-Titled album cover was plastered in kitties, well 3, but ya know.

...Anyhoochies, I went on a bit of a random hurricane musical madness here...out of nowhere, but if you like unique bands, you might dig these if you haven't heard them already. Toodles...

Let's Dance...

...I used to love this song when I was a kid, and still do. It's such an oddball song with a very peculiar vibe, David Bowie rules. I love seeing the people in the video dance, there is something cute about it and it makes me smile. What better way to showcase my adoration for this song than with dancing kitties.
I haven't been dancing in so long. I love being with a bunch of girls and letting loose to some good tune-age. I am long overdue.

*** I just WON or well my kitties won a Giveaway on one of my new fav blog's & etsy store Stuff. She makes the coolest kitty toys and catnip stuff that I've ever seen!! If you got a kitty, keep her in mind for some wicked sweet goodies from her etsy shop!! :)***

Current Music Obsession : Supergrass

...So I obviously have a massive obsession of Cats, but one other HUGE part of my life that I rarely post about is the music that I adore!!
...I am obsessed with Rock'N'Roll, and have been since I was a wee girl. I loooove more so the underground, indie rock style of tune-age...including genres hard to explain, being post-rock,electro,punk,glam rock even, a combo of all these, etc etc...it is SO HARD to sum up the style of tunes that I DIG. All I know is that I like certain bands and certain songs and don't care for main stream shite...unless it's really damn catchy as in "Hey Ya" was very hard to resist. Damn that Andre.

A band that I recently became infatuated with Again is,Supergrass !! They are such an underrated band, it's insane. When I was 13 or 14, I was enamored hardcore, and as of the last few weeks have fallen in love with them all over again.

...What is your latest music obsession??? I love hearing new bands and hearing other people's preferences...I'm soo curious to hear other buddies fav tunes at the moment. Introduce me to stuff...I'm begging of you..I love it.!

Tick Tock

So time is indeed a ticking...the "massive" day is on Saturday at 4pm. I apologize again for my crappier than crap blogging and for talking about this non-stop but its all that's on my mind right now. I am so excited to marry my best friend!!! We will more than likely die together from laughing too hard we explode.

I'm putting my finishing touches on the mix Cd's that will be playing for the reception. Here a few of my favs...there are tons more that I wanted to post but I don't have time for anything, it seems. It was a complete and utter blessing I got laid off...believe it or nor..at least for sanity's sake.

-That Features song is the sweetest song ever...listen to it!

I wanted cool tunes playing but something for everyone, so oldies were a definite...plus I totally adore sooo many oldies!!! I'm including tons of Beatles,Fleetwood Mac,The Zombies,The Kinks,The Cure,Johnny Cash,The Ventures etc etc etc...its been fun but I gotta try and keep it tame from some of the music I'm used to. I don't want Grammies to be upset.
